Drywall Repair

Assess and Protect

Drywall repairs come in all sizes, from minor dings to major cracks. We begin by assessing the damage to determine the best repair method. Depending on the size of the job, we prepare the area accordingly in order to contain any dust and debris that may be created. This often involves laying down drop cloths and covering furniture with plastic sheets.

Repair

Small dents typically require just a few coats of drywall compound. Larger cracks, however, need more attention—first they are scraped clean, then reinforced with fiber tape and finished with a minimum of three coats of compound. For more extensive damage, such as from water damage or to cover old electrical outlet holes, we may cut out sections of drywall entirely and replace these areas with new.

Sanding

All repairs are carefully sanded once the drywall compound is dry. In order to hide the edges of the repaired areas, we carefully sand it back, creating a uniform look with the existing wall. This is followed by a coat of drywall primer, which is finally ready for the finishing coats of paint.

Cleanup & Inspection

Clean-up and tidiness are essential parts of our drywall repair process. Once the work is complete, we carefully dispose of all plastic sheeting to contain any dust it has collected. Drop sheets are then removed from the floor, and the area is cleared of tools. We follow this with a thorough vacuum of dusty surfaces. While we do our best to contain all dust during the repair, some may escape—so our final vacuum and wipe-down ensure the space is left clean and ready to use.
